Lejre

Lejre is a historic village in rural Denmark. Mik and I spent
a day wandering around this area. We sat here on this hillside
and had a picnic lunch and overlooked an Iron Age village.

We
had a closer look and found there are people who actually live
here, wearing the same clothes, doing all the same trades and
games and activities as they would have done during that period.

Mik looking like he has landed from another timezone to appear
outside a typical 200 year old Danish cottage.

Some
locals.

Smelling
the flowers in the rustic garden behind the 200 year old cottage.

Mik
looking casual and romantic.

This
is how the Danes used to live thousands of years ago. A Stone
Age hut which had a very strong smell because it was constructed
from 50 or so goat skins.

Exploring
the countryside.

Dancing
for the sun.

The little red mermaid.

While
I was sitting on that rock, Mik went off and picked some beautiful
wild flowers for me...

Big smiles over here in Denmark.

Mik
and I arrived in Århus in the early evening and drove to
his father's home, the house where he spent many of his childhood
years. Here I was treated to a music recital, Mik on piano and
Finn, Mik's father, playing cello. Finn also prepared a wonderful
meal with fine champagne and wine to celebrate.
