London

What better way to get over a 24 hour flight...shopping with Sylvia in London!

18:00

Approaching Copenhagen, 38,000 feet and descending, finally my ears click as the air pressure changes. Looking out the cabin window there are white fluffy lily pad clouds scattered all over the sky. It looks like heaven from up here. Green paddocks and green lushness...is this Mush? Then a head rush, it feels amazing, my stomach is doing little cartwheels, how superb to be once again with my love...30 minutes more...I say a prayer of thanks for the smooth and safe passage, for being able to come this far, for being able to spend a day in London with Sylvia, what a gift that was, so superb!...about 30 minutes later...

Watching a couple of abandoned bags circling the flight's baggage carousel, neither of them were mine. I was slightly worried but then began thinking about the new clothes I would now have to buy...and then, just as I was calculating how much more I could spend on my credit card after today's 6 hour London shopping spree, out it pops! I needn't have worried that my bag had been lost, it appeared there was no way that would have been possible, my back pack was looking as if it had been strapped to the wheels of the jumbo and dragged along under the planes I had been flying on for the last day and a half. Complete with black skid marks just as you would see on the runway. I threw it on my trolley and pushed it through the exit gates with a big smile.

Mik was there at the gate to pick me up which was great and as we left the airport, the first sunshine they have seen here in weeks peaked through the clouds. Fortunately the weather is mild and pleasant right now. I was so tired yesterday evening I barely remember eating but after a short nap we headed out to a party where I met a number of his friends and was dancing and chatting until about 3 in the morning (sunrise)!! It was a wonderful evening. The people are so lovely, beautiful, friendly and welcoming.

Sunday morning brunch at Lufkastellet with fellow traveller and dreamer Vinece (holding my arm), Mik with his brother-in-law Franck (white t-shirt) and Rasmus.

Brunch consisted of a smorgasbord of salmon and asparagus + bacon and eggs + camembert and tomato + homous and artichokes + bread + yoghurt with berries. The food has been so wonderful here! It was also so fun to be waving to people in their boats as they sailed, ferried and paddled by!

Adventurers in Christiania, an alternative community found in the heart of Copenhagen.

The (beautiful) Little Mermaid, a H. C. Andersen–Copenhagen landmark.

Afterwards we headed to the northern area of Zealand (our island here) past seaside communities, beautiful historic homes and a poetic forest.

Picnic at a massive 'slot' (castle).

The very same castle that was made famous in Hamlet. We could see Sweden from this bench, along with some huge cruise liners, fishermen, sea birds and the occasional local walking their dogs.

Swans in one of the 3 motes surrounding this more than 300 year old castle and fortress.

Rainy day! But a great opportunity to wander around town and the neighbourhood.

A Christiania bike on Mik's street.

About to cross this bridge and head into town.

Kultorvet. Strolled through town and admired the market stalls with fresh fruit and flowers and all the beautiful people!

A new palette of cheese, they must have known I was coming!

Mik was working hard on finishing a magazine while I was out being a lady of leisure. And he was NOT enjoying it, he says.

We woke to full sunshine this morning. It was a welcome sight given we're preparing to go to Roskilde Festival tomorrow.

Shopping for the festival at Mik's local organic grocery which is run by Kenneth.

At Djembe office for the reception celebrating the 49th edition of the magazine. Photo by Erik.

Pirate image of the final performance of Akram Khan and Co as part of the Fools 25 Festival. Mik pulled some strings to get us some great seats at the last minute.

Off to Roskilde Festival on Thursday early morning... so more news and hot new photos on return
