| BACKGROUND
The northern beaches of Goa are labeled “uninspiring” by the guide books, but in my opinion they are some of the best places to be in Goa if all you are looking for is a relaxed and pleasant beach holiday without too much hassle.
It is a place where you see more couples with small kids than young rucksack travellers.

| PLACES TO STAY
We love staying at Mandrem Beach Resort. It costs 1,200 rupees (DKK 150) a night for a nice double room with balcony.

The bungalows at La Plage at Asvem Beach also looks like a really nice place to be staying.

| EATING OUT
The curd-honey-fruitsalad at Change Your Mind Café is yummy.
We spent a nice evening at Liquid Bar, half a kilometer north of 'The End of the World Café’ on Mandrem Beach (in the direction of Arambol) with a meal of Spanish inspired tapas, and with DJs playing pleasant Cuban and Arabic music.
TAXI TIP
In the north, we used a taxi driver named Pravin Vengurlekar, mobile 9822382345. Didn't talk too much with him, but he knew the locations and gave us an okay price.

Goa: Mandrem
The north of Goa is v-e-r-y quiet and also very nice.
Endless windswept stretches of sand...

This is Mandrem Beach. Plenty of space here. |

We quickly get into a good regular morning routine of swimming, walking, jogging, playing frisbee, and... |

...taking our breakfast at the Change Your Mind Café. We actually HAVE already changed our minds here a number of times, and also have some good backgammon tournaments. |

Change Your Mind Café is situated at Asvem Beach, south of Mandrem Beach. Further south is Morjim Beach which is near the village Morjim, and therefore full of poo (villagers traditionally use the beach as a toilet). |

Low tide leaves a gold wake. We find Mandrem Beach a clean and healthy place to spend a romantic ‘honeymush’. |

Deb has fallen in love with this boat, painted like the Indian flag. |
